Living in a cottage in the woods without all of the amenities of city life makes winter a bit more challenging. Admittedly, I have a love-hate relationship with this very Canadian season.

Like when my car slid off the main dirt road and into a snowy ditch (two winters ago), or when the road doesn’t get plowed or salted and I am stuck here, or like two weeks ago when I came home after a few days in the city to find so much snow in my driveway it was impossible to get my car in, or when the main road isn’t plowed or salted and I am stuck here…Those are the times I hate winter.

But when the sun comes out and I can take my dog Jagger for a long hike, those are the times that I love winter and I don’t even mind the minus temperatures. Here are some pictures from some of those walks.
