Cathy Shaluk joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) almost 11 years ago with a challenge to create the first curriculum-focused program for youth for the organization. Since then, the interactive Prairie Studies Education Program has blossomed. Cathy and her education team have inspired more than 57,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in southern Manitoba through in-class presentations and field trips to the Manitoba Tall Grass Prairie Preserve.

Cathy’s role with NCC has expanded since that time to encompass the Communications and Outreach programs for Manitoba. Combining her formal education in environmental technology and sciences and her infectious love of the outdoors, Cathy has spent the last 25 years working in the field of environmental education, sharing the wonders of our natural world with people of all ages.
