Maxine Leichter is currently president of the SSI Water Preservation Society and a Commissioner on Salt Spring’s CRD Liquid Waste Commission. She and her husband moved to BC from California in 2003 and received their Canadian citizenship in 2007. 

Maxine has a master’s in environmental studies and is a retired policy analyst with the City of Los Angeles, Environmental Affairs Department, where she advised elected officials on environmental problems and worked on cleaning up and redeveloping contaminated properties.
