Local retailer commits to conservation
Canmore’s Rocky Mountain Soap Co has created a feature Canada 150 soap. One dollar from each bar sold will be donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC's) Canadian Rockies Fund.
Rocky Mountain Soap Company uses only simple, natural ingredients, and is setting a new standard for high quality and effective personal and beauty care products.
By pioneering sustainable solutions in packaging and store builds, they seek to minimize their environmental impact. Rocky Mountain Soap Company’s commitment to nature fits with NCC’s mission to protect Canada’s environment for future generations.
In celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, the red and white marbled soap includes minty essential oils and organic oats locally sourced from High River, Alberta.
Alberta’s Rocky Mountains and the adjoining foothills contain large remnant tracts of parkland grasslands, montane forest and important watershed and riverside areas. Many of these habitats are under direct threat from various human activities.
The eastern slopes of the Rockies serve as a key area for maintaining wide-ranging carnivore populations and providing essential habitat for many species.
NCC has a long history in the Canadian Rockies, having conserved more than 700,000 acres (280,000 hectares). From the Eastern Slopes in Alberta to the South Selkirks in BC, NCC works towards creative conservation solutions that ensure Canadians will be able to enjoy the mountains for the long-term.
In July 2016, NCC launched the Canadian Rockies Fund, which allows donors to direct their support towards the not-for-profit’s conservation efforts in the mountains.

The Nature Conservancy of Canada is the nation's leading private, not-for-profit land conservation organization, protecting vital natural areas and the species they sustain. Since 1962, NCC and its partners have helped protect 2.8 million acres (more than 1.1 million hectares) coast to coast. In Alberta, we have conserved more than 234,000 acres (94,700 hectares) of this province’s most ecologically significant land and water.
Rocky Mountain Soap Co handcrafts quality skin care products using simple, natural ingredients. From humble beginnings as a single storefront in Canmore, they now offer their natural bath and beauty products to Western Canada from 11 retail stores and globally online.
