11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in celebrating traditions old and new with the announcement of the BC Region's newest project, the Morrissey Meadows Conservation Area!

Starting at 11:00 a.m., learn about the history of the land and the people who knew it as home. After hearing about NCC's plans for the continued restoration of the area, fuel up with a BBQ lunch before taking a stroll through the area's wetland, streamside and woodland habitats.

Morrissey Meadows was once known as a place for community gathering and food sharing by residents in the surrounding towns. Help us keep old traditions alive while celebrating the exciting future of conservation within the Elk Valley.

How to get there

The Morrissey Meadows Conservation Area is located approximately 15 kilometres south of Fernie and 13 kilometres east of Elko on Highway 3. Keep an eye out for NCC signage to locate the designated parking area for the event.
