How did you come to join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC)?

I was introduced to NCC while working at Kicking Horse Coffee. When this position was created, I jumped at the opportunity to work for the organization.

What is your educational background and previous experience?

I have a legal assistant diploma and a land administration certificate from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. I spent the first seven years of my career working for a major oil and gas company in Calgary. In 2016, I started a successful virtual assistant business, which gave me the flexibility to live anywhere, and I made the decision to move “home” to my favourite mountain town. When I returned to the East Kootenays, I had the great opportunity to work at Kicking Horse Coffee as an executive assistant before coming over to NCC.

What are you hoping to achieve through your work at NCC?

To be a part of conserving BC’s beautiful landscape and important resources for my child and her (future) children.

Describe a typical day at work.

I handle the administrative side of our work so that the regional vice-president and other senior staff members can focus on the more strategic aspects of the business.

What are your hobbies/interests outside work?

I love being outside with my daughter, Ella, and our puppy, Sophie. When I get a moment to myself I can usually be found in a yoga class or on my bike or skis in the mountains.
