The Darkwoods Forest Carbon Project is currently validated under both the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and the Climate, Community and Biodiversity (CCB) Program.  Under these internationally recognized standards, the project must undergo periodic verification to ensure ongoing compliance with the requirements of these standards. NCC is currently undertaking a verification process under both VCS and CCB concurrently and, as required under CCB rules, is hereby providing public notice of this process, so that the public has an opportunity to review the project documents and provide comment for a 30-day period (the “CCB Standards Public Comment Period”).

Darkwoods Forest Carbon Project documentation relating to the validation and verification process under CCB has been posted on the VCS Project Database website. Find it here >

In particular, the CCB Monitoring Report from January 1, 2013, through December 31, 2016, provides a comprehensive update of the activities conducted on the project from the original date of CCB validation.

This information will be open for public comment for a 30-day period – from August 8, 2017, through September 7, 2017.  The public is invited to review the documentation and/or submit any comments for consideration during this 30-day period, Comments may be submitted by using the link provided on the VCS Project Database page noted above.  Upon completion of this 30-day period, any comments received will be reviewed and considered by the project auditors, and will form part of the CCB portion of the verification process.  The verification is expected to be fully completed by October 2017.

In connection with the verification process currently underway as outlined above, the Darkwoods Forest Carbon Project will be subject to an audit to be undertaken as follows:
