Qualico Communities-Winnipeg is a division of Qualico — one of the largest, fully integrated real estate development companies in Western Canada, with operations also in Texas. Qualico is involved in the creation of residential communities and commercial properties ranging from downtown office towers to industrial subdivisions to neighbourhood shopping centres. Further, its businesses include building material sales and manufacturing enterprises.

Qualico is a proud supporter of many environmental and charitable organizations. Its partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is an extension of the company’s belief in, and practice of, sustainability.

The company understands that a neighbourhood is an organic, living thing and Qualico takes great satisfaction in creating healthier communities that flourish. To that end, over the past 50 years, Qualico has evolved its landscaping practices, particularly with regard to parks, stormwater runoff and retention. For example, Qualico Communities, Winnipeg incorporates several practical, sustainable elements into its residential neighbourhoods, including natural corridors, native grasses in parks and the creation of wetlands for stormwater drainage and retention. These initiatives provide habitat for wildlife and pleasure for residents while reducing greenhouse gases, erosion and fertilizer use. Qualico appreciates that neighbourhoods are an extension of "home" and can have a profound impact on residents’ lives. These features also serve many generations; therefore the company strives to ensure that each of its neighbourhoods is built to last.

Qualico Communities has played a significant role in the City of Winnipeg’s growth by envisioning and developing many thriving neighbourhoods. It moved into land development in the 1970s, beginning with All Seasons Estates in East Kildonan, then Forrest Park in Charleswood, Waverley Heights in south Winnipeg and River Park South in St. Vital. More recent community developments in Winnipeg include Assiniboine Landing, Pritchard Farm Southlands Village, Sage Creek and Oak Bluff West.

The organization is also involved in community initiatives such as the Qualico Family Centre in Winnipeg’s Assiniboine Park and the Jonathan Toews Community Centre in River Park South.

The quality of Qualico's contribution to the city reflects the quality of the people involved and the pride they take in their work. Qualico Communities-Winnipeg’s partnership with NCC continues the Qualico tradition of quality, caring and giving back to the greater community.
