Home to 142 butterfly and dragonfly species, 450 plant species and 238 bird species, the Carden Alvar is a hot spot of biodiversity and the perfect place to spend a Saturday surrounded by a host of butterfly species. Join NCC staff and a butterfly expert to learn about butterfly identification, biology and conservation.
See how many species you can catch and identify. NCC staff will lead a guided tour of NCC’s Prairie Smoke and Little Bluestem properties and tell you more about what NCC is doing to conserve this globally threatened alvar habitat.
Lunch will be provided.
