New chair appointed to Nature Conservancy of Canada’s Quebec Regional Board
The Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Quebec Region is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Archer as Chair of its Regional Board. Mr. Archer will draw on his experience as a chartered financial analyst and expertise in corporate banking services with large corporations in Quebec. In his role, he will promote the organization and the importance of its mission to a large network of executives and financiers in the province.
Mr. Archer has been a member of the Regional Board for the past four years — most recently as a member of NCC’s National Board of Directors — and is well versed in the organization`s needs and projects. The Nature Conservancy of Canada is Canada’s leader in the protection of natural areas on private lands, as well as the plants and animals they sustain.
“I am very pleased with this appointment,” said Jean Laporte, regional vice-president of the Nature Conservancy of Canada in Quebec. “Paul is already very involved with the organization and we know how much he is concerned about the conservation of Quebec's natural heritage. He will contribute even more to the success of our projects, and we look forward to continuing our work with him.”
“I accept this chair with great enthusiasm, as I am very concerned about the preservation of our natural lands and their biodiversity,” said Mr. Archer. “NCC already has great conservation successes to its credit and I intend to contribute so that, in the future, young and old alike can fully enjoy discovering and being in nature. NCC represents an extraordinary way to achieve this goal, and I am very proud to have the opportunity to participate.
Paul Archer holds a bachelor of commerce degree in finance and international business from McGill University and is a chartered financial analyst. Over the course of his career, Mr. Archer has helped large companies in Quebec develop financing structures, in the sectors of media and telecommunications, aeronautics, retail, energy and manufacturing, among others. Prior to joining the Nature Conservancy of Canada, he served on the board of the Canadian Club of Montreal for six years.
Mr. Archer is currently Managing Director and Head of Montreal Corporate Banking with TD Securities, a division of the TD Bank Financial Group. In this capacity, he is responsible for business development and credit structuring for large corporations in the Quebec market.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is Canada’s leading not-for-profit, private land conservation organization, working to protect our most important natural areas and the species they sustain. Since 1962, NCC and its partners have helped to protect 2.8 million acres (more than 1.1 million hectares), coast to coast, including 98,800 acres (40,000 hectares) in Quebec.
