Environment Canada endorses Saskatoon Prairie Natural Area

December 1, 2011

Saskatchewan's Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) officials are now managing and conserving large native prairie areas and riparian tracts in the province's Saskatoon Prairie Natural Area, thanks in part to Environment Canada's Environmental Damages Fund.

Management plans for the area, which includes Saskatoon and its surrounding area as well as part of the South Saskatchewan River, involve the protection of a range of biolocially rich lands. NCC's Conservation Volunteers events will play a key role in helping staff accomplish key management activities in the area.

These efforts will help NCC staff maintain the connection between these ecologically sensitive habitats.

This project was undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada through the Department of the Environment.
