    Starry, starry night

    The Old Man on His Back Prairie and Heritage Conservation area (OMB) is an ideal — and iconic — location as a Nocturnal Preserve. The OMB is a sprawling 13,000-acre (5,261-hectare) ranch in southwestern Saskatchewan acquired by the Nature Conservancy of Canada, in 1996. The ranch was purchased from Peter and Sharon Butala to ensure this extensive grasslands ranch would remain in its natural state.
