    The Nature Conservancy of Canada is protecting 70.5 hectares (175 acres) of some of the most unspoiled and intact wildlife habitat remaining on the Musquodoboit River, just 30 minutes from Halifax. These four properties protect habitat for Atlantic salmon and several species at risk, and represent the start of the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC) plans to protect lands and waters of the Musquodoboit River.

  • Unprecedented grassland offset project in Saskatchewan results from multi-partner collaboration
    October 3, 2016

    A new science-based method to calculate habitat offsets has resulted in the largest known industry investment in grassland habitat offset in Saskatchewan, valued at close to $1 million. The approach was developed through a collaboration between the Government of Saskatchewan, K+S Potash Canada (KSPC) and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) with the objective to achieve “no net loss” of native grasslands as a result of the construction of the KSPC’s Legacy Project near Bethune.

    The Island Nature Trust has awarded its annual Honourable J Angus MacLean Natural Areas Award to the Nature Conservancy of Canada and its PEI Program Director, Julie Vasseur. The award recognizes outstanding contributions of individuals and organizations to the protection of PEI’s natural heritage and is named after a former farmer and Premier of Prince Edward Island, who was recognized for the conservation of his own ecologically-sensitive property.
