FortisBC is proud to have joined a number of like-minded organizations in helping the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) acquire the final tract of land necessary to complete the Darkwoods Conservation Area in the South Selkirk Mountains. As Canada's largest private land conservation project, Darkwoods supports a diversity of habitats and is home to a number of stewardship and conservation research projects.
Sustainability is embedded in the work FortisBC does to deliver energy to more than 1.2 million customers across B.C. As part of this effort, FortisBC gives back to communities by funding projects that emphasize safety, education, the environment and Indigenous initiatives. Darkwoods was chosen as one of its largest community investments to date because it preserves such an important area where FortisBC operates and its employees live and work.
