Claire Ducharme

Regional Vice-president, Quebec Region

Claire Ducharme joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in September 2022 as regional vice-president in Quebec. Her expertise from a 30-year career in environmental conservation will guide NCC’s work to accelerate the pace of conservation in the province.

Ducharme’s expertise in making natural areas accessible to the public while protecting their ecological integrity comes from her experience as director of operations and then as deputy director general at Sépaq. Under her leadership, investment in conservation projects and collaboration with partners grew enormously in the parks she oversaw as well as in neighbouring communities.

Ducharme inherits a raft of ambitious conservation projects underway in Quebec, among them:

  • creating the Plaisance-Tremblant and Green Mountains ecological corridors in southern Quebec.
  • restoring two kilometres of natural habitats along the St. Lawrence River by 2023.
  • conserving 125,000 hectares by 2030.
