Federal Programs Manager (1 Year Term Contract) - Toronto, Ontario (Location is flexible)

Purpose and General Description

Taking care of our environment has never been more important than it is today.  The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is looking for an Federal Programs Manager to cover a 12-month term.

Covering a 12-month family leave and reporting to Vice President Conservation Policy and Planning (VP Conservation), the Federal Programs Manager is the central resource mandated with ensuring successful delivery of Federal Programs administration, including Program reporting requirements, tracking Program progress, auditing of expenditures, annual Work Plans, annual Progress Reports, compliance with program parameters, liaising with partners and Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Program staff and the delivery of other reports and ad-hoc data requests for the Programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Required Skills and Attributes

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of MSExcel including pivot tables, filters, formulas, function and complex linked worksheets;
  • Project management experience;
  • Strong attention to details;
  • Well-developed communication skills, written, verbal, listening;
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills, ability to make decisions, sound judgment and creativity;
  • Working knowledge of MSWord, MSPowerPoint;
  • Proactive- able to anticipate and plan for future needs;
  • Ability to foster good working relationships to achieve success;
  • Working knowledge of databases, particularly developing queries;
  • Knowledge of conservation science, securement, stewardship, species at risk, species rankings, and NCC practices and processes;
  • Basic knowledge of accounting;

Experience Required

  • Post-secondary degree;
  • Practical experience in a conservation organization with particular emphasis on complex, inter-departmental funding administration, conservation data management, financial data management and analysis;
  • French language skills will be prioritized

Start Date and Salary Range:

Planned start data is March 4, 2019 but an early start date is possible.

Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
