Darkwoods: The Largest Single Private Conservation Project in Canadian History

4-Darkwoods Partners

Partners

The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) plans to work with partners under a carefully designed conservation plan to identify other key habitats in the South Selkirks and then develop a conservation strategy. NCC will continue to seek funding partners for a broader conservation vision even after the successful completion of the keystone Darkwoods project.

The project involves a wide variety of both private and public sector partners across Canada and the U.S., as well as local communities and First Nations. NCC places great importance on maintaining positive relationships with the local communities and will seek wherever possible to minimize economic disruptions.

The conservation of the Darkwoods lands and waters will allow NCC and its partners to invest in future conservation partnerships and sustainable communities throughout the South Selkirks for generations to come.
