What is the Force for Nature campaign? The Nature Conservancy of Canada's (NCC's) Force for Nature campaign is our most ambitious endeavour to date, which aims to raise funds for the securement of approximately 90 Priority Natural Areas across the country.
We will also raise funds for their long-term management through the Stewardship Endowment Fund.
What are your campaign goals? We will raise half a billion dollars over five years (2007-2012). That will allow us to protect 500,000 acres (200,000 hectares) across the country.
What are Priority Natural Areas? Priority Natural Areas are geographical areas that our conservation science team has defined. They are areas of high ecological value with strong opportunities for conservation, and form the core of our Force for Nature campaign.
What is the Stewardship Endowment Fund? The Stewardship Endowment Fund ensures that we have the long-term resources to manage and maintain the properties in our care. It will fund activities such as restoration, monitoring and inventories. The fund also helps us pay property taxes or hire interns or consultants to help with ongoing conservation work on our properties.
Where do you focus your work? We focus our work in southern Canada, where most of our population lives, sharing habitat with more than 85 percent of our country's terrestrial species at risk. This is where we can achieve real, tangible and enduring results.
One of the important aspects of NCC’s Campaign is the high-end leadership that has been engaged across the country. Below is a list of the National Campaign Team. We thank them for their support and passion.
