Professor, Biology, Department Head
Diana Hamilton, PhD, is a field ecologist with a particular interest in interactions between birds and intertidal communities. The bulk of her research focuses on stopover ecology of migrating shorebirds, community-level interactions among intertidal invertebrates, and top-down and bottom-up effects in marine systems. Honours and graduate students are heavily involved in all aspects of her research. She has studied semipalmated sandpipers at Johnson’s Mills for many years, and has enjoyed working closely with NCC staff on issues related to shorebird conservation.
