Lindsay Somers is a wellness and community health consultant specializing in communications, engagement and community program development.
With nearly a decade of experience, she inspires others to live well every day through the development of connections within themselves, to community and to each other. She has become a trusted voice in a healthy lifestyle that is fun, realistic and approachable.
Lindsay has appeared on CBC, CTV and Global Television Network to discuss lifestyle and health topics relevant to Manitobans. She has written for Canada’s national voice on active living, ParticipACTION, and is the resident wellness blogger for The Forks. She has also developed several successful social media campaigns, encouraging people to add movement to their day in new and interesting ways.
As the recreation coordinator at The Forks, Lindsay has created and launched programs such as Learn to Run and Learn to Skate. Her outdoor programs have engaged and encouraged thousands of Winnipeggers to take their first steps to meet new people, find joy in movement and be a part of their community for a healthier lifestyle in all seasons.
Launching in early 2019, Lindsay is leading and developing the communication and engagement strategy at CancerCare Manitoba for The Manitoba Tomorrow Project, part of the national population health research platform The Canadian Partnership for Tomorrow Project. This transformational study will improve the future of cancer and chronic disease research by adapting research methods to include lifestyle, environment, genetics and social factors as contributing factors to the rise of cancer and chronic diseases.
