Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bill Elliott spent the last 36 years of his career as president  and CEO of FortWhyte Alive. The organization is one of Canada's foremost, privately operated, not-for-profit environmental education organizations situated on 270 hectares of diverse habitat within the city of Winnipeg. A long-time enthusiast of the outdoors and natural history, Bill enjoys wildfowl hunting, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, backyard biodiversity, gardening, golf and skiing.

Bill served as a member of the Manitoba Round Table on Environment & Economy from 1990 to 1994. In 2020, he received the Order of Manitoba for his career in championing the cause of sustainability through environmental education.

Bill is married with two grown children. He is now retired.
