A life-long learner, Jennifer worked as a coach and then educator for 20 years before joining her husband Patrick O’Connor in founding their first enterprise together. Jennifer started filling in to solve day to day issues, but quickly moved into managing the business’ daily operations and finances.

In 2008, Jennifer helped create Blackwood Family Enterprise Services, an exclusively fee-based planning firm that works with enterprising families to establish generational success. Applying their values- based planning process to the insurance business, Patrick and Jennifer went on to found Unity Insurance Professionals in 2012, specializing in legacy work for professionals and business owners. Today, Jennifer continues to manage operations in Winnipeg and Calgary.

Committed to education and social justice, Jennifer is an active volunteer with a variety of community-based organizations, including Wayfinder’s Manitoba, where she serves on the Board.

A long-time supporter of both Ducks Unlimited and Nature Conservancy of Canada, Jennifer is driven by her belief that investment in nature is at the heart of equality and social justice. She believes all communities depend on diversity for their continued existence.

Away from work, Jennifer enjoys travelling, especially to see her daughters, and just being active in nature: hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.
