Michael Walker was a lawyer with Legal Aid Manitoba until his retirement in 2020. He is currently the director of the University of Manitoba’s Community Law Centre, an experiential learning program that benefits law students and low-income clients. During his career, Michael volunteered at the board level for non-profit social service and access to justice organizations.

Michael is a life-long resident of Winnipeg and is married with two adult sons. He is an avid canoeist and enjoys canoe trips and many other outdoor activities with his family. A favourite place is the family cottage off the grid in northwest Ontario.

His appreciation for nature and understanding of the importance of conservation has inspired him to serve on NCC's Regional Board of Directors.
