Looking for an opportunity to help restore coastal habitat? Join Ghost Gear Disappear Inc. for an evening on Miscou Island’s beautiful beaches at sunset to plant Eelgrass, an important underwater plant that benefits fish and other marine creatures and coastal habitats.

Eelgrass and other seagrasses create a wonderous and magical ecosystem support to our coastal habitats. Not only do they provide protection, remove harmful greenhouse gases and help keep sand in place, but they also act as nurseries, food and shelter to numerous fish and invertebrates! Come join us for an afternoon in the sand and surf returning the beaches to their natural beauty! Participants will meet at the Tourism Bureau for a quick introduction and then head to the beach to begin planting.

Snacks and water will be provided!

Ghost Gear Disappear is an organization focused on establishing customized sustainable fishing equipment for individual fishing businesses, and to prevent and reduce fishing gear lost by offering solutions for retrieval and responsible disposal of fishing gear disposal to protect and keep our shorelines clean. Ghost Gear Disappear has had an active role in conservation with implementation of artificial reefs, fishing gear retrieval and removal. As well as marina habitat inspections
