Keyhole Cleanup

Saturday, August 6
10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Capacity: 25

Calling all Grand Lake cottagers! If you are looking for an opportunity to help restore the lake shoreline and learn more about the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) The Keyhole property, this event is for you!

At this day-long event we will be cleaning up garbage from the Grand Lake shoreline at The Keyhole property. The 2018 and 2019 floods left garbage scattered in the woods and the shoreline around the property. Join us for a cleanup, barbecue and a lost-and-found exploration for washed-up flood items as a part of the Great Fundy Coastal Cleanup.

Along the west side of Grand Lake, New Brunswick, behind the cottage community of Princess Park, lies a stunning cove known as The Keyhole. NCC’s The Keyhole nature reserve supports a bur oak floodplain forest, which is unique to this region of the province. We will be helping steward this sensitive area by removing garbage from the forest.

For more information, please email Caroline Blakely, conservation engagement intern, NCC, at caroline.blakely@natureconservancy.ca or call 506-440-6251.

What to bring: Water, full bagged lunch, sturdy hiking boots or steel-toed boots, work gloves, rain gear (just in case!), layers of clothing, bug spray, sunscreen and a hat.
