Help to discover the forest bird species that call Miscou Island home!

Join the Healthy Coasts NB team and Miscou Island community partners on July 1st on a search for the Canada Warbler, a species-at-risk!

Once found on Miscou Island, the Canada warbler, a small songbird with a blue-grey back and bright yellow belly, is listed as a species of special concern in Canada. The bird also has a telltale collar of black stripes around their neck. Canada warbler feed on insects and are found in dense forests near water. The main threat to Canada warbler is loss of forested habitat. Let’s find the Canada warbler and other rare birds so that we can help to protect their nesting habitat. So come on out and help nature by being part of the solution to protect our beautiful Miscou Island!

Participants will meet at the tourism bureau parking lot for a quick introduction and then head to the first site to search for birds. Afterwards, the group will head to La Vieille École school for a mid-morning snack and social.

Pre-registration for this event is required.
