Atlantic Regional Board Member

Hari Balasubramanian is a senior sustainability expert who creates enduring and profitable social and environmental solutions across sectors, asset classes and the capital stack. With experience in environmental finance, sustainability integration, impact investing and large-scale program development, he has helped more than 300 projects in five languages in over 60 countries. These projects have influenced over U$3 billion in sustainability oriented financing, which is helping protect threatened species, forests, oceans and the people who depend upon them throughout the world.

Since 2012, Hari has developed and communicated the business value of sustainability through his Certified B Corporation®, EcoAdvisors, which advises governments, corporations, foundations and individuals on values alignment, and EcoInvestors Capital, which invests for sustainability at scale.

Hari serves as a director for several Canadian environmental charities, as a mentor to start-ups, and advisor to investors, corporates and governments on the value of nature. He was recently recognized among the top Clean16 sustainability leaders in Canada. Previously, he worked with Conservation International leading its monitoring and evaluation function and developing partnerships with the public and private sectors.

He holds a BSc in biology from McGill University and an MSc in geography (distinction) from Oxford University.

Hari lives in Halifax with his family and enjoys spending time with his family, community and exploring the rugged coastline of Nova Scotia.
