Napanee Plain Alvar, Ontario

Napanee, Ontario (GPS coordinates: 44.351418°N, -76.895242°W)

9:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Participants will spend the day on the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) Napanee Plain Alvar Nature Reserve cutting small eastern red-cedar trees and manually pulling smaller seedlings that are crowding out this open habitat. You can even select one eastern red-cedar to cut and take home as your Christmas tree! Once we are finished, we will use branches from these shrubs to make festive wreaths! Physical activity will include hiking approximately one kilometre over uneven terrain, and bending, lopping, sawing, pulling and hauling motions.
