Systematic Conservation Planning Specialist

Marc Edwards is the systematic conservation planning specialist at the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC). He is the subject matter expert for conservation planning and is responsible for making recommendations on the application of spatial planning and prioritization tools at NCC. A current focus of Marc’s work is to develop NCC’s new Planning Framework, which will modernize NCC’s approach to conservation planning and prioritization. Prior to joining NCC in in January 2023, he spent 10 years working for the BEACONs project at the University of Alberta, where he developed and applied scientific methods and software to guide conservation planning efforts in the Canadian boreal forest. Marc lives in Pemberton, BC, where he enjoys exploring the Coast Mountains by foot, bike and skis.
