Heather Baehre is the conservation coordinator for the Nature Conservancy of Canada in Newfoundland and Labrador. In her role, she assesses potential areas for other effective area-based conservation measures, researches policies relating to creative conservation methods and builds partnerships with land managers across the province.

In 2022, she graduated with a master of science degree in geography with a focus on Arctic-alpine plant ecology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Here, she gained valuable field work as a field assistant and researcher in the Northwest Territories, Yukon and the island of Newfoundland, broadening her knowledge of boreal and subarctic flora and their habitats. Her graduate degree instilled a great interest in unique and vulnerable species and the importance of finding creative ways to conserve the specialized habitats they often live in.

Heather enjoys spending time outdoors with her partner, working on house projects and embroidering botanical art.
