Eleanor Gallant

GIS Conservation Planner

Eleanor.Gallant@natureconservancy.ca

Eleanor Gallant joined the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) in 2021 as the GIS conservation planner for Atlantic Canada. Raised in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley, Eleanor pursued a bachelor of science degree in ecology and biodiversity at Bishop's University in Quebec, which sparked her love for taking care of our natural world. Ultimately, she decided to return home to the Maritimes to complete a master’s degree in environmental management at UNB, researching eelgrass mapping and distribution using various remote sensing techniques across Atlantic Canada.

As a conservation planner, Eleanor provides GIS and spatial planning support to all business units. She assists in obtaining and maintaining spatial data for Atlantic Canada, interprets and displays biological and related GIS data, creates maps, completes spatial assessments, and offers technical support and expertise to projects across the region. Her favourite part of the job is knowing that the land protected will remain protected for future generations to explore and enjoy.

Eleanor currently resides in Oromocto, New Brunswick, with her partner and German shepherd. She enjoys spending time outside, reading, cooking for friends and spending as much time near the ocean as possible.
