Gilles Vincent

A member of the Quebec Regional board of the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) since 2022, Gilles Vincent has a wealth of knowledge and experience in both nature and business.

Trained as a biologist, he specialized in botany and was appointed to manage the Montreal Botanical Garden for nearly 15 years. He has worked and taught in China in the field of botanical gardens. His numerous articles in scientific and popular publications, as well as many conferences and media interviews, have contributed to his reputation among specialists and the public.  He was named a member of the Order of Canada in December 2021 and a knight of the Ordre national du Québec in June 2014.

His research on the use of aquatic plants for wastewater treatment, his involvement with the Botanical Garden in setting up major projects such as Butterflies in the Wild, Gardens of Light and Mosaïculture (2013) and his experience as a consultant in China make him a valuable member of our Board. Gilles' interest in nature and biodiversity, combined with his talents for innovation, management and scientific research are a perfect fit for NCC's mission. It is an honour to benefit from his experience!
