Keyera

For Keyera, “Connecting energy for life” means delivering more than just energy — the organization is committed to making positive, lasting change in the areas it operates. This includes partnering with organizations to help protect the natural landscapes we all call home and working together with Indigenous Peoples, communities and organizations to build capacity and strength for a better future for all. Through its social investment program Keyera Connects, Keyera has partnered with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to support critical conservation efforts in the Beaver Hills and expand NCC’s conservation work with Indigenous Nations.

Keep the Beaver Hills Wild

Keyera has joined NCC’s campaign to Keep the Beaver Hills Wild. Its investment will support emerging conservation opportunities in the Beaver Hills by expanding conserved areas near existing park lands, adding vital buffer zones for wildlife, and increasing opportunities for people to connect with nature. The Beaver Hills hosts hundreds of distinct species of wildlife and is globally important for a variety of migratory waterfowl and shorebirds. The long-term survival of these incredible species depends upon unrestricted access to natural habitat and wildlife corridors that the Beaver Hills provides.

Indigenous-led conservation

Supporting Indigenous-led efforts to conserve, protect and manage their traditional territories will have a cascade of positive effects on the future of conservation. Keyera’s investment will directly support the development of NCC’s new Indigenous-led conservation framework in Alberta. This path forward will focus on building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities that are grounded in mutual respect and the desire to achieve significant and lasting conservation outcomes. NCC will use our capacity, expertise and influence to act as an ally in support of Indigenous-led conservation projects and as a partner in joint initiatives.

Thanks to the support of corporate partners like Keyera, we can deliver bold conservation achievements for nature and for people, forever.
