Ralph Thrall III
Ralph Thrall III is the president/CEO and co-owner of the family-owned McIntyre Ranch, located in southern Alberta. He was born and raised in Lethbridge. After attending high school at Brentwood College (on Vancouver Island), Ralph continued his education at a college in California, where he also pursued his interest in playing golf. At 22, he played professional golf on the Canadian Golf tour. While he was good enough to reach that pinnacle of sport, he recognized he wasn’t good enough yet to stay there. The following year, he married and moved out to the McIntyre Ranch where he began learning the business that was owned by his father (and grandfather before him). At age 26, much sooner than anticipated, Ralph became foreman/manager of the ranch and shortly thereafter, he and his wife had two children.
Ralph has spent 36 years stewarding the grasslands of the 225-square-kilometre property and he is very honoured to have had the opportunity and the privilege. The achievement of having a conservation agreement on the ranch has been a 30-year endeavour and Ralph is very excited to be partnering with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and Ducks Unlimited Canada, working together to accomplish his career-long goal of striving for balance and making the McIntyre Ranch the best that it can be.
