Rob Gardner represented the Nature Conservancy of Canada in the grassland region of southeastern Alberta from 2010-2015. His hobbies of birding and hiking extend his training as a geologist. Previous employment as a park naturalist enabled him to spread his enthusiasm for the grassland ecosystem.

Rob’s participation in numerous prairie conservation groups has always stressed cooperation between organizations. He takes every chance to explore the prairie’s hidden corners, enjoying awesome spectacles of nature like a hundred thousand snow geese dropping onto a lake, or a towering thunderhead sweeping across vast grasslands. He uses his broad experience to help develop management plans that ensure these scenes will continue.
